Road trips
When in Australia, a road trip is a must. It's the best way to experience what this country has to offer. There are many famous routes that you can take, and you won't be dissapointed. Below are some recommended road trips.
Sydney to Cairns
Also known as the East Coast trip this is undoubtebly the most famous and most popular road trip in Australia , so be warned, you won't be alone.
Sydney - Newcastle - Port Stephens - Port MacQuarie - Coffs Harbour - Byron Bay -
Gold Coast - Brisbane - Sunshine Coast - Hervey Bay (Fraser Island) - Agnes Waters & Town of 1770 - Rockhampton - Mackay - Airlie Beach (Whitsundays) - Bowen - Townsville - Tully - Cairns
Unless you have a few months and lots of cash at your disposal, you probably won't make all these stops, so just pick and choose where you do, you won't be dissapointed wherever you go.
Adelaide to Perth
The East coast may be the most travelled road, but is it the best, that depends on what you're looking for. This trip couldn't be more different than the East coast. It is isolated and lonely, and terrific. The trip is almost 3000km, roughly the same as Sydney to Cairns, give or take a few hundred km, yet there are no highrises and tacky souvenir shops, which makes it seem that much longer. (or shorter)
Adelaide - Baird Bay - Streaky Bay - Cactus Beach - Fowlers Bay - Yalanta - Eucla NP - Cocklebiddie Cave - Cape Le Grande NP - Lucky Beach - Albany - Valley of the Giants - Perth
Perth to Darwin
Margaret River - Perth - Kalbarri NP - Monkey Mia - Ningaloo Reef Marine Park - Karijini NP - Broome - Bungle Bungles - Darwin
Darwin to Adelaide
Darwin - Katherine - Edith Falls - Mataranka - Daly Waters - Tennant Creek (Devils Marbles) - Alice Springs - Coober Peddy - Adelaide
Other road trips include the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and the ultimate road trip, Sydney to Sydney, or Perth to Perth, you get the idea.
